Registration rules and guidelines

A quick look at the rules around posting on Lifetracks, along with some guidelines on posting style that might help and a description of our attitude to moderation.

The rules

When registering for an account on Lifetracks everyone is asked to agree to some basic rules that we hope will help keep Lifetracks a positive experience positive experience without being too restrictive.

Here they are again:

1. Harassing, abusive, obscene, racist or otherwise unlawful comments, content or messages are not permitted.

2. Lifetracks moderators are able to remove, edit, move or delete any comments, content or messages for any reason without notice. (Where possible we will explain to you why we have done this.)

3. Posting spam (unsolicited advertising) including advertising, surveys and contests, is not permitted.

4. Links to inappropriate websites (hateful, defamatory or illegal) are not permitted.

5. Quotes from other sources or sites must include the URLs of where you found them.

6. Personal attacks on users that may inhibit them from using and enjoying Lifetracks are not permitted.

If you break any of these rules you risk having your account closed by a moderator.

Lifetracks moderators will endeavour to remove any inappropriate material. However, we cannot guarantee to review everything that users say or do. All content expresses the views of the author, and Lifetracks will not be held responsible for the content of any message.

Guidelines

We also have a few guidelines on posting that you might have read when registering (and if you haven't registered you can sign up here). Here's a reminder of what was mentioned:

  1. Try to avoid posting anything in capital letters, it can HAVE THE EFFECT THAT YOU ARE SHOUTING and doesn't always go down too well.
  2. Text talk can be tricky for some people to read so it's good to try and type in full if you have time. It makes it easier for everyone to read your comments.
  3. If you come across any comments that you think are inappropriate, be sure to report them to a moderator and we'll sort them out.

Moderation

Moderators play a key role in the Lifetracks community and you might notice them from time to time. So why do we need them?

  • To create a safe and secure environment.
  • To get users opinions and feedback and to be your first point of contact should you have any problems.
  • To offer support including empathy and signposting to the best possible resources.
  • To diffuse arguments or difficult situations.
  • To meet legal requirements.
  • To provide trusted information.
  • To keep an eye on the issues that are important to our users so we can be sure to cover them.
