What is an Adult Numeracy and Literacy Certificate?

It's a free test that gives you a national certificate providing a certain level of proficiency in English and/or maths. You can take it at Level 1 and 2.

How long is the test?

  • Up to one hour for 40 multiple-choice questions in literacy
  • Up to one hour 15 minutes for 40 multiple-choice questions in numeracy

What do they test?

  • The literacy test assesses your reading and understanding skills, plus spelling, punctuation and grammar
  • The numeracy test assesses your understanding and interpretation of numerical information and your calculating and measuring skills

Where can I take it?

You can take it online, or at a local accredited centre.

How much is it?

It's free.
