Did you know that DNA clumps together and becomes visible in alcohol? This random fact comes courtesy of Dr. Rachel Crossley, one of 200 ‘STEM ambassadors’ who will be appearing at the National Big Bang Fair in Manchester from 11-13 March. The job of the ambassadors is to bring science, maths, technology and engineering to life and tell you more about their exciting careers in various areas.
Other activities include building stuff, playing with gadgets and goo, being wowed by explosions and discovering more about the science of football. It also says in the press release that you’ll be able to practice welding with chocolate sauce. Though we firmly believe chocolate is for eating and not for sticking things together, we’d love to hear more about this if anyone goes along.
Big Bang fairs are regional and free to all school and college students; see this website for more info http://www.thebigbangfair.co.uk/
