Martyn Lewis' advice
On Wednesday March 3, Martyn Lewis CBE, an ex-BBC broadcaster and the
founder of YouthNet, the charity behind Lifetracks.com, shared his expertise
with us as he spoke at the YouthNet Student Journalists Seminar.
The video, taken at the event, features Martyn talking about
‘reading up on what you want to do’.
In the video, Martyn talks
about reading up on the job you’d like to do, making sure it’s
the right one for you and then pursuing that goal.
He points out how
many times he saw his own applications
rejected before he got a “big break” into journalism. His
advice: never feel ashamed and never be put off by rejections. Keep going
and you will get that break that will change your whole life and future.
Lifetracks.com can help you to find your career
path. There are many routes to take including apprenticeships, volunte
ering placements or by applying directly for a job
vacancy.
And for those of you who have your own tips to
share, feel free to upload a video of yourself to YouTube giving your
advice and tag it “yourlifeontrack” - it might be your video we
highlight on the blog next!
All the best.
Jonathan and
the Lifetracks.com team.
